First inquiry of the 'All Party Parliamentary Urban Development Group'

Date: 20/11/2006

The Centre for Cities, in partnership with the British Property Federation, is leading independent research for the new All Parliamentary Party Group on Urban Development.

This first inquiry addressed key questions concerning the provision of infrastructure for regeneration. It examined whether the absence of local financial freedom deters innovative private sector infrastructure funding solutions. It also looked at how devolved powers could enable the public sector to access private sector finance to fund infrastructure.

The group heard testimony from key private and public sector development experts, identified the main barriers to funding crucial infrastructure, and examined practical changes to financial rules to unlock our cities' growth potential.
