Sunand Prasad

Founding Partner, Penoyre & Prasad


Sunand co-founded Penoyre & Prasad in 1988. He was President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) from 2007 to 2009, and was responsible for a number of projects designed to focus the energies of the profession upon the need to urgently address climate change. In 2008 Sunand was voted 26th in the Independent's top 100 environmentalists list.

He was one of the founding Commissioners of CABE, played a central part in the development of the Construction Industry Council's Design Quality Indicators. He was RIBA Vice President for Policy and Strategy, and chaired and founded RIBA Constructive Change. In 2008 he was appointed as member of the Mayor's Design Advisory Panel for London.

Sunand has written about architecture and cultural diversity, the value of design, architecture and construction, hospital design, urbanism and domestic architecture of North India, and the work of Le Corbusier, as well as the work of Penoyre & Prasad.
